What is FRP Plastic?

FRP is a kind of composite material, which is made of glass fiber and its products such as glass cloth, tape, felt and yarn as reinforcing material and synthetic resin as matrix material. Because of its strength is equivalent to steel, and contains glass components, also has the color, shape, corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, heat insulation and other properties of glass, so it is figuratively referred to as "glass fiber reinforced plastic".

FRP is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and durability and is used in a variety of applications such as the automotive, aerospace, construction, and marine industries as well as in the field of decorative props.

What advantages do FRP offer over other plastics?

Adding fibers to glass fibers reduces weight and increases modulus of elasticity and mechanical strength. As a result, these materials can be used to manufacture components that require precise design, preset tolerance limits, low fatigue, high impact resistance and good compression properties. They can simplify component design and improve production and operational efficiency. FRPs also have excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties and can withstand corrosive chemical attack, wave impact, humid environments and storms/storms.

Fiberglass manufacturing process

According to the material characteristics of FRP, the commonly used main manufacturing processes include winding molding, alignment molding, compression molding, and hand lay-up molding.

What properties does FRP have?

* First, light weight and high strength: the relative density of FRP is between 1.5~2.0, only 1/4~1/5 of carbon steel, but the tensile strength is close to or even exceeds that of carbon steel. Certain epoxy FRP tensile, play go and compression strength can reach more than 400Mpa.
* Second, good electrical properties: FRP is an excellent insulating material, used to make insulators, high frequency can still protect good dielectric properties.

Third, good thermal performance: FRP low thermal conductivity, only 1/100 ~ 1/1000 of the metal, is an excellent thermal insulation material.

Fourth, good designability: according to the need to flexibly design a variety of structural products to meet the requirements of the use of the product can be made to have a good integrity. Can also fully select the material to meet the performance of the product.

Fifth, excellent workmanship: according to the shape of the product, technical requirements, use and the number of flexible choice of molding process. The process is simple, can be molded at once, the economic effect is outstanding, especially for the shape of complex, not easy to form a small number of products, more prominent in its superiority of the process.
